| September 24, 2007 | NIGHT SEMINAR: How to pitch a story to a US editor |
Pitching stories to American publications is very lucrative -- they pay more, on average, than those in any other country. But there are tricks in how to approach new editors, how to identify a publication's readership, and how to structure story pitches so that they fit a publication's requirements. We will talk about how to organize yourself so that your pitching is most effective, and so that you have regular streams of work coming in. We will also talk about the three ways to find story ideas, and how to use each one here in Shanghai. There will be pizza and beer at the close of the workshop. |
